LaLiga pays tribute to COVID-19 heroes with “Applause to Infinity”
As Spanish football will restart tonight, LaLiga has decided to show its appreciation towards the amazing efforts that society has shown to overcome the pandemic, by launching the “Applause to Infinity” initiative.
Even though the stands will be empty, LaLiga Santander has launched an initiative that will not go unheard. At the 20th minute of every match – from now to the end of the season – the applause of the LaLiga’s supporters will play in every stadium for 30 seconds.
As part of the “Applause to Infinity” project, fans have the chance to record their applause and upload it to the dedicated website. All of the recordings will then be combined and played out loud during every LaLiga Santander & LaLiga SmartBank match. Many important Spanish personalities have already uploaded their recording and are now encouraging fans to do the same, as a sign of gratitude to the many people who have been fighting on the front lines to beat COVID-19.
“Supporters in the stands make football complete but now, due to reasons beyond their control, they won’t be able to be there,” said LaLiga president Javier Tebas. “We have created this initiative to help fans be a part of LaLiga’s return and also as an opportunity for them to show their support for the heroes of the Covid-19 pandemic. We want them to feel close to their team, even if they cannot be in the stadiums cheering them on, and for players to feel the support of their fans.”
